AADHAAR Card for NRIs and Foreigners

AADHAAR card is available free of cost to all citizen and residents of India, including NRIs and resident foreign nationals, regardless of the their citizenship. The procedure and document requirements for NRIs and Foreigners are same, as for any other resident of India. If any NRI or a Foreigner wish to apply for the AADHAAR card, they have to be physically present at any of the AADHAAR card center in India.

Dear Sir/ Madam, I am an NRI. My wife and one son (adult/ 18 years) are NRI too and younger son is OCI card holder. I have resident proof in Kolkata and also in Hooghly, West Bengal. But my sons do not have address proof in India. Please let me know can we apply for Aadhar card in any center in Hooghly or Kolkata? What documents should I bring for my sons for address proof? Since I am visiting India, I thought that as a holder of OCI card, I would apply for aadhar card. I went to a center in Delhi, but was told to produce a proof for an Indian address, which I do not have, and my application was denied. Going through all the information online, nowhere does it say that you need to have a Indian address to apply for aadhar card, yet the system refuses to accept a non-Indian address. I would not waste time trying to get a aadhar card unless someone with authority can outline when NRIs not residing in India can apply.
