AADHAAR Card for NRIs and Foreigners

AADHAAR card is available free of cost to all citizen and residents of India, including NRIs and resident foreign nationals, regardless of the their citizenship. The procedure and document requirements for NRIs and Foreigners are same, as for any other resident of India. If any NRI or a Foreigner wish to apply for the AADHAAR card, they have to be physically present at any of the AADHAAR card center in India.

Is there any provision for NRI to get adhar card without going to India. We got PAN card as government required people to get it. We had to go through, OCI, PAN Card and now government wants to get adhar card also. They need to make a provision for NRI to get it done at respective consulate general office in their area otherwise it will be huge expense and difficulty for NRI to get adhar card now.
