AADHAAR Card for NRIs and Foreigners

AADHAAR card is available free of cost to all citizen and residents of India, including NRIs and resident foreign nationals, regardless of the their citizenship. The procedure and document requirements for NRIs and Foreigners are same, as for any other resident of India. If any NRI or a Foreigner wish to apply for the AADHAAR card, they have to be physically present at any of the AADHAAR card center in India.

I am living in the USA and I don't have the plan to visit India in nnn7. I have a savings account with ICICI and SBI. I have received an email from both banks and saying that my account will be blocked Dec 31, nnn7. Why can't Indian government give exceptions for NRI when they show valid address proof and current visa of a foreign country? If the government allows this, we will get our Aadhar card when we visit India. Or Indian embassy has to issue Aadhar card for NRIs like the passport.

Please allow Aadhar card application submission in foreign country embassies. If we can renew our passports in local Indian Embassy here, we should also be allowed to get Aadhar card and other relevant services. It is really not practical to make a visit to India just to submit Aadhar card application.

I am out of India from long time. My Adhar card got somehow invalid due to which I am not able to link my Adhar with the Bank accounts, even I was not able to fill the ITR last year.. Hi I do not have an Aadhaar, I am a foreign national working in India for 4.5 years. My company says I should not apply, my bank says I must give my aadhaar No, my own company says its needed for Provident fund and then says we need not worry if expats.I was asked for it at tax time sad i didnt have it and my tax went through..... Confused!! what is the ruling My take is its volountary for foreign residents but is preferred by agencies that want simple same transactions for all. If that is true threatening to close bank accounts is verging on criminal.

Hello, I would like to know what the benefits are of having an Aadhar Card. I am a foreigner living in India long-term. Currently I am volunteering and am here on an employment visa but I do not need to pay tax. I was told that I do not need an Aadhar Card but I could get one, so I would appreciate if you let me know if there would be any benefit or advantage of having one in the long term as I am planning to stay on in India for another several years.
